Leaving Cert Courses

Independent Academy provides exam-focused evening and weekend Leaving Certificate grinds together with intensive Easter, February Mid-Term, Easter, Final Revision, and Oral Language for Leaving Certificate students throughout the year.

We use small classes, state of the art facilities and a student focused approach to learning to guarantee the best results possible for all our Leaving Cert. students.  

 

Intensive Revision Courses

Independent Academy offers intensive Christmas, February, Mid-Term, Easter and Final revision courses in a wide range of Leaving Cert subjects for students.

Our Easter Revision Courses commence Monday April 2nd , 2012 – Saturday April 7th, 2012.

Why Choose a Revision Course with Independent Academy?

  • Courses are run as intensive 5 ½ hour intensive block sessions, (with the exception of our Irish Oral Preparation which is 4 hours*) allowing students to focus on a particular subject
  • All courses will be taught by our highly experienced Independent Academy teachers, many of whom are State Exam correctors and school text book authors
  • Students will be provided with detailed notes of the topics being covered to take away for further study throughout the year
  • Teachers will cover specified topics in each subject (see below). As well as this, our teachers will provide students with exam advice and guidelines on how to maximise their exam grade in each subject

All subjects are taught at Higher level, unless otherwise indicated.

** Special Note Regarding Geography and History

Geography

  • Fieldwork will not be included in the course.
  • Independent Academy now offers a Geographical Field Study for the Leaving Cert. 2011/12 for students who require the Field Study element of the course***.
  • Core Topics: Physical and Regional Geography will be covered.
  • Elective: Human and Economic Elective offered.
  • Options: Geo-Ecology and Global Interdependence covered.

History

Topics covered:

  • Ireland:
    • The Pursuit of Sovereignty and the Impact of Partition 1912-1949.
    • Politics and Society in Northern Ireland, 1949-1993 (Compulsory Document Study for Leaving Certificate 2010-11)
  • Europe:
    • Dictatorship and Democracy in Europe 1920-1945
    • The United States and the Wider World 1945-1989
    • Notes will be provided on request for any students studying Nation States and International Tensions 1871-1920

All part time one year courses are designed for students sitting the Leaving Certificate in June 2012.

  • Students may join at any time during the year.
  • Please note: tuition does not include practicals/fieldwork.

Week Beginning Number of Courses Total Cost

Fees can be paid in one of two ways:

Option 1: In full

With this option, payment must be paid in full when the student starts the course.

Option 2: Two instalments

With this option, payment is paid in two instalments. Instalment 1, is paid before the student starts the course. Instalment 2 must be paid 4 weeks before the end of the course i.e. May 2012.
